Welcome to Trans Therapy with Maya
Therapy Services
I’m Maya (she/her), a neurodivergent trans woman and integrative therapist offering online sessions for trans and gender-diverse people (13+).
I take a down-to-earth, informal approach, creating a space where you can feel truly safe, seen, and heard. My work is person-centred and relational, with a focus on inner child healing and building deep trust in the therapeutic relationship. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you—it’s about exploring, understanding, and making space for all parts of you. Sessions are online, so you can access support wherever you are, at a pace that works for you. I also offer in-person sessions in Central Taunton for those local to the area.
A session with me is shaped around what works best for you. It might be talk-based and conversational, or we might explore inner child work, CBT worksheets, or online sand tray therapy. Some people find it hard to open up at first, and that’s okay—we can use the chat bar or work in a way that feels more comfortable. If you experience dysphoria or just prefer not to be on camera, that’s completely fine too. My aim is to create a space where you can explore, process, and heal at your own pace, with no pressure or judgment.
Trans & Thriving
Trans and Thriving is a series of practical courses designed specifically for trans women and trans femmes who are seeking support with confidence, self-expression, and navigating life’s challenges.
I currently offer the following 6-week courses:
First Steps Forward: A course focused on taking those initial, meaningful steps in your gender journey, including building confidence, exploring your identity, and planning your next steps.
Sex and Self: A course that explores relationships, boundaries, and self-empowerment, while addressing how to embrace your unique journey.
Both courses provide a safe, interactive space where you can learn, share, and grow alongside others.
For more details about these courses visit my Trans & Thriving page.
Training for Counsellors & Therapists
I offer trans-affirming training for counsellors and Therapists who want to better support their trans and gender-diverse clients. Drawing from my experience as a therapist and activist and my lived experience as a trans woman, my workshops equip mental health professionals with the tools, language, and confidence to provide inclusive, affirming care.

My History
In 2011, I co-founded Proud2Be, a Devon-based LGBTQIA+ organisation, alongside my twin sibling Max. Together, we’ve built a thriving organisation that supports hundreds of LGBTQIA+ young people and adults annually, despite facing challenges such as the global pandemic and cost-of-living crisis.
I earned my Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2019 after completing a three-year programme at Devon Counselling College. I have also undertaken comprehensive training in areas such as safeguarding, sexual health, mental health, anti-racism practice, and LGBTQIA+ awareness.
This diverse background allows me to bring a holistic and well-informed perspective to my affirming therapy and training work.
